The narrative I want to make will be focussed on suburbia. More specifically, the horrors of suburbia. Being from a small town myself, being lgbtq+ and poc was challenging. I do have to note that American suburbia is a lot more scary than what I've been through. I came to this conclusion because I was totally uninspired by the drop zone, which is Lenoir, North Carolina. Nothing about the place made me want to be there. The town had little redeeming qualities.
The Narrative
I want to make an atmospheric work, something that is immersive and somewhat abstract. The goal is to give the -vibe- of American suburbia. With the classes I've been having in 3d modelling, I want to give vr a try.
I experimented with different imagery. collected from the internet. Some are of actual Lenoir while others are images meant to evoke just the feeling of being in Lenoir.
sound plays a big part in my narrative, I feel like this is what would make the work immersive. I collected different sound effects to kind of collage a soundscape, if that makes sense. I also used footage from the Lenoir first baptist church. During lockdown they have been streaming their church services.
this is the final version, made for a normal screen.
